Dental Periodontitis

โรคปริทันต์

Periodontal disease, commonly referred to as gum disease, generally refers to gingivitis and periodontitis, including gum surgery and gum grafting.

GINGIVITIS

Gingivitis is an inflammation of the gums caused by the accumulation of certain bacteria, changes in hormone levels in the body, side effects of medication, and various factors such as smoking.

PERIODONTITIS

Periodontitis, or gum disease, is caused by the deterioration of the tooth roots. It leads to loose teeth and may ultimately require tooth extraction. It is also a cause of bad breath.

Symptoms of periodontal disease

  1. Swollen and red gums
  2. Bleeding along the gum line while brushing teeth
  3. Receding gums
  4. Loose teeth
  5. Possible pus discharge from gum pockets
  6. Bad breath

Gum disease treatment...

Generally, gum disease or periodontal disease is associated with the accumulation of tartar, so it is inevitable that treatment will require scaling and root planing.

Treatment process

  1. Treatment will involve scaling and root planing. Scaling removes tartar from both the tooth surface and the root surface within the periodontal pockets. Root planing smoothens the root surface to allow gum tissue to reattach firmly to the tooth. This process may need to be repeated several times.
  2. About 4-6 weeks after treatment, the dentist will schedule a follow-up appointment for some patients to check their condition.
  3. Patients must clean their teeth and interdental spaces properly and consistently, using a toothbrush and dental floss daily to remove
  4. It’s recommended to visit the dentist every 6 months to check for any remaining plaque and tartar.
