A beautiful smile is the first thing that those around you notice when they look at you. Having a beautiful smile inevitably requires having clean, white teeth, as clean, white teeth allow us to smile confidently. Therefore, teeth whitening is another option that can make your teeth clean and white in a short time, without affecting the enamel.
Teeth whitening has 2 types:
- Home Bleaching is a method where the dentist provides tooth whitening solution for patients to use at home, but under periodic supervision of the dentist. An impression of the patient’s mouth is taken to create a custom-fitted bleaching tray that fits snugly over the teeth and gums, with space for the whitening gel. The tray is typically worn overnight for about 2-3 weeks. Generally, during the whitening process, the dentist will schedule a follow-up appointment within 1-2 weeks.
- In-Office Bleaching is a tooth whitening procedure performed in the dental clinic by a specialist dentist. The process typically takes about 1 hour.
Steps to do
- The dentist will examine, compare tooth color, and clean the teeth. For patients with cavities, these must be filled first. If there’s significant tartar buildup, scaling may be necessary before teeth whitening.
- Gums and saliva will be protected to prevent the whitening solution from affecting the gums or saliva from interfering with the whitening process.
- A cold light will be applied for about 15 minutes. This process is typically repeated 4 times.
- The whitening solution will be rinsed off.
The choice of teeth whitening system is crucial for the resulting tooth color. Therefore, our clinic has chosen the teeth whitening system:
The Me Too! system. This teeth whitening system is safe, effective, causes minimal tooth sensitivity, and has a straightforward procedure. The results are satisfactory, and it’s reasonably priced.
Note: Most patients can undergo teeth whitening, but results may vary. For example, yellow teeth typically respond better to whitening than gray teeth. By comparing tooth color in advance, the dentist can select the most effective whitening technique.
